It has been a busy week for my organization ARTIST KO! (Artists and Musicians Marketing Cooperative)
as we have been commissioned by FILSCAP
(Filipino
Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) to
organize “Music In Your Business”, a forum
about the value of music in business, the rights of music copyright owners over
the use of their works, and the copyright licenses that should be secured by
business owners who intend to use or play copyright-protected music in their
events or establishments.
We (ARTIST KO!) are closely working with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), International Confederation of Societies of
Authors and Composers (CISAC) and the Creative Cebu Council, Inc. on this project in support of the
ongoing initiatives to develop the music sector of the Creative Industries in Cebu.
FILSCAP President Noel Cabangon
along with Trustees Gary Granada and
Trina Bilamide will be speaking in
the forum to share their knowledge on the use of music in business.
The forum, which will be attended by key officers of Cebu’s
business organizations, will be held on October
28, 2011 (Friday) at the Ballroom 1
of the Marriott Hotel from 9:00am to
12:00 noon. Presscon to follow.
We will also hold a gathering of Cebu’s key composers and
songwriters in the evening at The Outpost to have a short discussion on the
same topic and to invite prospective members as well.
ARTIST KO! is very excited about FILSCAP’s expansion project because we consider
this a major development or a milestone
for the Cebu music sector. And we will
do everything in our power to support and assist FILSCAP in this transition and expansion process.
